Colin Kaepernik had no intentions of disrespecting troops. His reasons were to make the people around him aware that he would not tolerate his people feeling victimized by police authority or others. The reason the National Anthem is played before every sports event is because of the players of the MLB years ago. The citizens of America made it a tradition, to stand, to put their hand over their heart.
Therefore, Kaepernik did disturb peace for those who whole heartedly believe to stand for the flag. Francis Scott Key wrote the Star-Spangled Banner because he felt that in his position that is what he needed to do, a victory had been made on his side and this was his way of taking a picture. Kaepernik and the other athletes are kneeling for those who are on the losing side. Kneeling because their President has offended them. In the past of protest, few have gone far enough to burn the American flag, maybe the players could've chosen a better way to protest, but they also could've done something worse to hurt society. For a man and his teammates to join together and portray their beliefs in front of thousands of people is freedom of speech and is consider part of what the founding fathers fought for, is it not?
